Welcome to our little space of the web.

After buying a cute little mill house in Five Points, renovating it and thinking we would never live anywhere else we decided to move. To a rancher. A pink rancher. So not us. But, it will be, with time, elbow grease and good contractors! From the first time we walked in the front door we knew we were home. The new house is right around the corner from my parent's house where I grew up. We are so excited for Matthew and Charlotte to grow up here, riding bikes, going to the pool, playing in the woods... my childhood was filled with freedom and wonder allowed by a safe neighborhood that I could explore and make my place in the world. I am thrilled we can give that to our children.

These days our blog is filled with the adventures of Mateo and Charlotte...mixed in with a few home projects and recipes. But mostly the kids take front and center. Join us on the adventure!

Day of Rockets!

We started out the day on the square in Downtown Huntsville for the Nasa on the Square event.  My company is working on the new Space Launch System so we had a big role to play.  Matthew loved interacting with all of the exhibits!

Next we headed to Southern Thunder!  It is a rocket launch hosted by Huntsville Amateur Rocket Association.  We drove about an hour or so north of Huntsville and even though I know Paul loves a good back road, with each turn, I thought we were getting more and more lost. Then all of a sudden, we take a turn and there is this field filled with people watching rockets!  It. Was. Awesome.  I think I was the one most excited about it!  We were quite unprepared to be in a big open field in the middle of June.  Thankfully, we were taken in by nice family and given shade and water!  What a great event!

Thats's a rocket!

Poor C flinched every time a rocket went off.

Look at it go!

I think Charlotte had the best time of all!

One tired little boy!

Yesterday was quite the day.

We spent most of the morning in the ER with Charlotte. Birthday party after nap and then friends over for dinner...including his buddy Pearson who he hasn't seen in a couple of weeks. They ran wild until much later than I care to admit. Despite all of that, they were up and raring to go by 6am! We were packed and on our way to the Fish Museum in Chattanooga around 8:30. We had another great day.

My favorite part was when Matthew touched a butterfly!

ended it with a trip to a local restaurant where Matthew just down right crashed!

Happy Father's Day!

So thanks to Pinterest I had this awesome idea go camping at home for Paul's Father's Day fun. I managed to get it all somewhat organized and found myself with 30 minutes to set it all up before Paul and Matthew got home from the air show. As I was scrambling to pitch the tent in my living room I realized that this is how it all started. I went camping with some new friends just after moving home after a bad relationship ended and I found myself kissing Paul. To this day we still say "you came out of nowhere!" And I am so thankful for the amazing man God had waiting for me.

Emergency Room Visit

On Friday when we picked Charlotte up from school they said that she had fallen on her bum and been inconsolable since.  We thought maybe she was teething?  When I got her in to the tub, I noticed she wasn't really using her left arm, but she was calm and acting normal otherwise.

She went to bed and slept through the night without incident.

In the morning, I knew something was wrong when we handed her a cup of milk and she couldn't reach for it with both hands.

I immediately call her pediatrician and am told to hold the line for a dr.  That has never happened.  Usually they call us back.  We were told to head to the emergency room NOW.

Once we got to the waiting room, the nurse told us there is something called "nursemaids elbow" where the elbow pops out of alignment (allegedly from being dragged around by the nanny) and with some manipulation it can be put back in place.

Baby girl was not happy.

Daddy makes it all better.

To rule out anything else going on, they took some xrays. I could hear her screaming from down the hall.  Poor thing.

The xrays all came back normal and when they tried to manipulate her arm, it didn't help anything.  she still wouldn't move it.  So they put it in a cast and referred us to an orthopedic surgeon.  She was adorable in her dinosaur sling...
